VU business students proved to be strong contenders in a recent international annual competition. The contest provided university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis.

Two VU teams of four representing undergraduate and postgraduate students competed in the CFA Institute Research Challenge against more than 5,000 students from over 1,000 universities.

Students worked in teams to research and analyse a publicly traded company. Using this research, they produced a report on the company and presented their findings to a panel of industry professionals.

Senior accounting lecturer and VU CFA Institute Research Challenge mentor Maria Prokofieva said the VU teams' submission reports received very favourable feedback from the experts and industry advisors.

“VU is very proud of the efforts, commitment and dedication of these students,” she said.
