Professor Richard Constantine is a senior executive with over 30 years’ experience in the higher education sector. His current role as Chief Infrastructure Officer has a broad range of responsibilities, including leading teams of professionals in information technology services, libraries and facilities.

Richard has had significant experience in the managerial oversight of:

  • information technology services
  • libraries
  • online teaching and learning
  • university websites
  • student administration
  • student services.

He has served as a board member of AARNet Pty Ltd, SABRENet and is currently a board member of VERNet Pty Ltd.

Richard joined Victoria University in 2016 to lead VU in the creation of a digital campus, with strategic oversight of the university’s IT services department and the development and implementation of the university’s digital strategy. This digital strategy has enabled students to achieve their full potential through the innovative adoption of leading edge technology.

Richard is a fervent believer in making technology work for students and staff. As part of his executive responsibilities overseeing the university’s facilities services, he has implemented a campus master plan for the university’s physical footprint over its multi-campus environment.

It is Richard’s belief that the built environment plays an important part in the university experience for students. At the forefront of his thinking is aligning technology and the built environment to provide the best possible student experience. This includes providing high quality, innovative spaces that are safe, functional, engaging and environmentally friendly.
