Overview

The BAS Agent Registration Skill Set FNSSS00004 is designed for those who are seeking registration as a business activity statement (BAS) agent with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB).

To become a registered BAS agent, you must satisfy the relevant qualifications and experience requirements that are set out in the Tax Agent Services Regulations 2009 (TASR). Successful completion of this course meets the requirement for a Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) approved course in basic GST/BAS principles.

You'll learn how to carry out business activity and instalment activity statement tasks and how to establish and maintain a payroll system.

Once you've successfully registered as a BAS Agent with the TPB, you could find employment as a:

Course contents

Upon successful completion of the two core units, A Statement of Attainment for FNSSS00004 BAS Agent Registration Skill Set will be issued.

Note, this Skill Set from the FNS Financial Services Training Package together, with the appropriate assessment methods as set by the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) meets the requirements for a course in basic GST/BAS taxation principles that is approved by the TPB. Persons seeking BAS agent registration should check with the TPB for details of other current registration requirements.

Are you working in the accounting or finance industry and seeking registration as a business activity statement (BAS) agent?

To become a registered BAS agent, you must satisfy the relevant qualifications and experience requirements that are set out in the Tax Agent Services Regulations 2009 (TASR). Successful completion of the Polytechnic's BAS Agent Registration Skill Set meets the requirement for a Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) approved course in basic GST/BAS principles.

You will learn how to carry out business activity and instalment activity statement tasks and how to establish and maintain a payroll system.

This course is delivered over 20 weeks, consisting of 3.5 hours facilitator-led face-to-face delivery per week and additional structured learning activities provided in the VU Learning Management System.
