From sport nutrition to the taboo topic of drugs in sport, Ghaith Zakaria covered extensive ground during his Diploma of Sport Development SIS50612.

The international student studied the one-year diploma at Victoria University Polytechnic – the TAFE division of Victoria University (VU) – enabling him to enter the second year of the related bachelor degree at VU.

"The Diploma of Sport Development was such a successful course – I am amazed by the knowledge that the overall course and the specific units provided me," Ghaith, from Iraq, says.

One of the things I liked most about the course is that it gave me the opportunity to gain practical experience, which is an essential part of the learning process, and it helped me to absorb the latest information about various topics in sport.

"For example, I increased my knowledge of sports nutrition, drugs in sport, sport safety and many other great topics."

Ghaith says he chose to study sport at VU because of its outstanding reputation in the sport industry and its strong industry connections.

The course structure made it so easy for me to take my first step into the sport industry, and it provided me with many experiences and opportunities to start thriving.
