Victoria University’s Vultures have returned from 2018 Unisport Australia Nationals Div 1 with three gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal.

The VU Vultures team of 80 student-athletes are enrolled in courses ranging from Diploma to PhD across all six VU Colleges, studying disciplines as diverse as Arts and Science, as well as VU Polytechnic.

Competition fierce across field, court & pool

With only the top 10 universities from previous Division 1 event rankings qualifying in each of the sport competitions, the rivalry between teams was fierce to become National Champions.

The Vultures didn’t back down from the challenge and took to the field, court, pool and track to compete against Australia’s best university teams in:

  • Athletics
  • Basketball Men
  • Basketball Women
  • Beach Volleyball Men
  • Beach Volleyball Women
  • Beach Volleyball Mixed
  • Football Men
  • Swimming
  • Taekwondo
  • Tenpin Bowling Open

The VU Vultures displayed a high level of ability and sportsmanship, and a huge amount of respect is also owed to the Sport Team Managers and Team Captains, who showed tremendous leadership throughout the week.

The success at this national multi-sport Division 1 competition builds on the recent success for VU at the 2018 Nationals Snow.

It augurs well for remaining Nationals on the calendar including:
