This unit introduces students to an understanding of physical activity and sedentary behaviour from a participatory and physiological perspective. Students apply various methods to assess physical activity and sedentary levels, and analyse the data in relation to adherence to Australia’s Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour Guidelines. Students study and apply the social-ecological model to identify a range of Australian strategies that are effective in promoting participation in some form
of regular activity.
Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with each competency unit’s learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements, including the setting of project and work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines.

Lecturer will provide teaching and learning materials as required in the form of VU produced workbooks.
This unit is not compulsory for any specific course. Depending on the course you study, this unit may be taken as an elective.
