The spirit of leadership

Coming from high school I needed a place I could call home, and for me there was no better place than VU.

Celil Kardaslar
Bachelor of Laws

Celil Kardaslar found confidence as a student during high school debates. Now he is finishing his degree ahead of schedule and is embracing every opportunity as an award-winning law graduate.

"I come from a Turkish family – my father migrated here in 1987. While I initially had some challenges in high school, by engaging in debating competitions I found that I had a platform where I could express myself, leading to me pursuing law after completing Year 12.

Coming from high school I needed a place I could call home, and for me there was no better place than VU.

I competed in eight moots, and was over the moon to win several awards in my final year.

Thanks to completing two summer schools I graduated with honours one year ahead of schedule.

I continue to be a leader in my community, actively engaging and volunteering in programs for youth and vulnerable people, and since graduating I have also become a university Law tutor.

I've also been busy judging prestigious law competitions worldwide including Vis Moot Hong Kong, ICC Mediation Competition, and assisting our VU Law team who competed in the Vis Moot this year.

My ultimate aim is to enter into Federal or State politics, a mission I’m undertaking on behalf of my community."
