Overview

Mathematics and science are core disciplines for understanding and explaining much of the modern world. They are both essential learning areas in primary education, and provide superb “brain-training”, with their logical rigour, and their emphasis on problem solving and understanding of the natural world. Mathematics and Science are supremely satisfying to teach, as students are introduced to their riches, applications and beauty.

This major is a strong mix of theoretical and practical based studies of how maths and science is understood, taught and learnt. Studying this major will allow you to have a basic understanding of maths and science beyond what is required in your teacher education program, enabling you to enhance your primary specialisation knowledge in these essential curriculum learning areas.
