Discovering VU’s world-class offerings

More than 20 education agents from across the globe are in town for Victoria University's (VU) second annual Discover VU Week.

The agents, representing organisations including IDP Education, Superstar Education, iae Global, AUG and AECC Global, will spend the coming days learning about the courses, services and support available to VU's 5,600 onshore international students.

Now in its second year, Discover VU Week aims to showcase VU's innovative course offerings to our top-performing education agencies, who are a key recruitment source for the University.

The Discover VU Week program

As part of Discover VU Week 2017, held from May 29 to June 2, the agents will experience:

• presentations from VU academics about key courses
• hands-on sessions in our world-class training facilities
• tours of our main campuses and our student accommodation complex, UniLodge @ VU
• sessions to meet current VU international students
• opportunities to explore Melbourne and its surrounds.

Off campus, the agents will take part in a special dinner hosted by VU Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Peter Dawkins, to recognise their contributions to the University. They'll also take part in a group excursion to Healesville Sanctuary, Yarra Valley Chocolaterie, Yering Station Winery and the Eureka Skydeck.

By the end of the program, it is hoped the agents will understand the quality and diversity of the student experience at VU. With improved understanding of VU and its courses, they will be equipped to inform VU's prospective students.

Victoria University's international engagement

In welcoming the agents to Melbourne and to the University, VU International Director Bronte Neyland said that while VU has a rich history of international engagement, the globalisation of students, staff and curriculum remains at the forefront of our strategic activities.

"VU has been educating international students for more than 55 years, and we are incredibly proud of our long history of engagement," Ms Neyland said.

"While students are at the heart of what we do, we also strive to build and nurture relationships with our key education partners, including our valuable recruitment agents, as part of our ongoing commitment to international engagement."

VU International Associate Director International Student Recruitment, Jonathan Pratt, said VU is "excited to celebrate our longstanding relationships with our recruitment partners".

"With more than 20 counsellors from around the world representing all our student cohorts, Discover VU Week 2017 is an opportunity for them to learn more about VU, our courses and Melbourne, but most importantly, to engage with our students on campus."
